Since moving to this role in early 2014 Agrawal has managed coverage and reported on several important regional stories including elections in India and Sri Lanka, Nepal's deadly earthquake, and terrorism in Bangladesh.
Agrawal has produced from New Delhi high-profile global exclusive interviews for the network, including those of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Barack Obama.
Agrawal regularly appears on-air to share his distinctive analysis of trends and developments in the region. His reports span India's technology boom, climate change and pollution, the economy, trade, and foreign policy. Agrawal also frequently reports on breaking news, ranging from earthquakes and floods to terror threats in the region. He is a regular contributor to cnn.demo.robotrailer.com on political, economic, and social issues in South Asia, writing about the region's trajectory, relations with China and the U.S., and stories about caste and gender issues.
Agrawal has overseen a number of special coverage initiatives from India, including the week-long series Growing India, feature programs like Talk Asia and On the Road, CNN's award-winning Freedom Project, and CNN news hours from Mumbai and Delhi like Quest Means Business and Connect the World.
In 2016 Agrawal hosted the CNN Asia Business Forum in Mumbai, which attracted top CEOs from around the world as speakers and delegates.
Prior to his current role, Agrawal worked across CNN's UK and U.S. offices for eight years. In New York, Agrawal was the senior producer of CNN's flagship program on world affairs, 'Fareed Zakaria GPS'. While he was there, the program won its first Peabody Award and garnered three Emmy nominations.
Agrawal began his CNN career in London in 2006, where he rose quickly to become a senior producer. He has produced key special programs for the network during major news events like the Arab Spring and the Gulf oil spill. Agrawal's live and in-field experience ranges from the hallways of Davos and the Pentagon to the streets of Dhaka and Mumbai.
In 2013, Agrawal was named a Young Global Shaper by the World Economic Forum; he is also a member of the group's Global Agenda Council on India. In 2016, Agrawal became an Asia 21 Young Leader as named by the Asia Society in New York.
Agrawal has a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University. He was born in London, England, and grew up in Kolkata, India.
